Good Morning, MES Families! It has been a wonderful first week of school! The kids have adjusted well and are learning about rules and procedures for this school year. As we head into the weekend, a few announcements:
1. PICTURE DAY is this coming Wednesday, August 14th! Orders can be made online at inter-state.com/order. Use the code: 86693QT
2. Parents should have received an invite this past week for Rooms which is a communication tool we are using district-wide. If you need assistance, please reach out to Lezlie Stocklin (lstocklin@ses.k12.in.us).
3. Several papers will be coming home in Friday Folders today. One of the most important is a red sheet regarding plans for Emergency Dismissal. Please fill out and return back to school ASAP.
4. Lastly, students will be able to purchase Smart Snack compliant ice cream and frozen treats on Tuesdays and Fridays during lunch. Students must have a positive lunch balance or may bring in $1.75 to make a purchase. If you have any questions, please direct those to our Food Service Director, Allison Kunz (akunz@ses.k12.in.us).

Good Morning, MES Families! We are off to a great start this morning at MES! The kids are situated and things are rolling smoothly! A couple of announcements to share:
1. On the first day, we love seeing parents bring our littlest Yellow Jackets in the building. However, for K-5 students, starting tomorrow, kids will not be permitted into the building until 8:00am. Also, we kindly ask that parents do not accompany them inside the building.
2. For those who are car riders, a reminder that for morning drop off and afternoon pickup, you line up along Locust Street. Please go down Patterson Street (road between the HS and VP) and follow that around the back of the campus. Cars will be ushered in once buses have departed. For the afternoon pickup, same procedure, except we will also need to see your child's assigned number to make sure we match students up with the proper car.
3. We also ask that PARENTS REMAIN IN THEIR VEHICLE and pull all the way forward. In addition to this, we ask that cars do not exit the line until the vehicle in front of you does. Please and thank you!

Good Morning, MES Families! In just 6 days (Tuesday, August 6th), students will be returning back to school! A couple of reminders as we had into the final stretch of summer.....
1. Back to School Night will be on Monday, August 5th from 6:00-7:00pm. There will be snow cones for purchase, free hot dogs, and a campfire/storytelling area. We are looking for donations of bottles of water and small bags of chips. If you would be willing to donate, please email Mr. Corn (jcorn@ses.k12.in.us).

Parents are able to complete registration from home, however, if you need assistance, please feel free to come to the HIGH SCHOOL from 1-6pm. Class Lists will be available or you can view them in PowerSchool when you log-in to complete registration. Students that are new to MES may not have a teacher assigned yet, however, that will be done soon once registration is complete.

Good Morning, MES Families! A couple of announcements as we head into the weekend:
1. FIELD DAY is scheduled for this Monday! We ask the each grade level wear the following colors: Kindergarten (orange), 1st Grade (purple), 2nd Grade (Teal), 3rd Grade (Red), 4th Grade (Yellow), 5th Grade (Black). A special thank you to Mrs. Mallory for planning this event each year!
2. The Student Council will be selling popsicles to grades K-5 on Tuesday and Wednesday next week for .50 each (limit 2 each day) during recess. Please send money with your child if you would like them to participate.

Good Morning! A few announcements as we head into the weekend:
1. Starting on Monday, the car rider line moves BACK to MES. Students will no longer be dropped off or picked up on the high school side. Cars will be able to drive around as usual and park along Locust Street. Thank you for your patience the last couple of weeks.
2. Next week is the BOGO Book Fair. We will also be having a STEM Fair and Carnival on Wednesday evening (with the book fair open) from 6-8pm here at the elementary.
3. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to our teachers this past week to help make Teacher Appreciation Week special. A big thank you to our PTA for spoiling our teachers with many surprises!!
4. Lastly, Happy Mothers' Day to all of our moms out there. We hope you find some time to rest and relax and be pampered as you deserve!!

Good Afternoon, MES Families! A few announcements as we head into the weekend:
1. As we near the end of ILEARN testing, we are planning a Kona Ice Party for ALL students on Wednesday, May 15th. Parents may pre-order for their child at the following link: https://customer.kona-ice.com/#/K4736351056 The cost is $3 for a 9oz and $4 for 12 oz.
2. This coming Monday, May 6th is Wishbone Day! This day is to recognize those with osteogenesis imperfecta like our very own, Willow Barr. We encourage students to wear yellow on this day!
3. We are still in need of items to be donated for our Stem Fair/Carnival on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:00pm. Items that are in need include: Little Debbie snacks, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, etc. All must be pre-packed. NO HOMEMADE items. We also need small carnival-type prizes and 2 liter sodas. If you are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated! We would like to have these items no later than Friday the 10th.
4. Lastly, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Let's take this opportunity to let all of our teachers and instructional assistants know how much their are valued for their daily efforts!

This will be a BIG night at MES! Our BOGO Book Fair will be open, plus students will be showcasing some of their STEAM projects they have created with Mrs. Waltz...AND....we will have a carnival in the gym!!
We are in need of prizes/donations for the carnival. If you are able to donate any of these items, you may drop them off at the elementary office (or send to school with your child). We would like to have donations by Friday, May 10th!
Here is what we need: prepackaged/bought items including---Little Debbie snacks, brownies, cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Again, all items must be prepackaged/bought...NO HOMEMADE ITEMS can be accepted.
We also need: individually wrapped candy (of any kind), small carnival-type prizes, and 2 liter sodas. THANK YOU!

Kindergarten invitations are going home TODAY. No RSVP needed. Graduation will be held Friday, May 24th at Noon in the elementary gym.

Good Morning, Morristown Families! A few announcements on this rainy Friday:
1. Yearbooks have arrived! For those who pre-ordered, we will be sending them home with students today. We do have a few in the office that may be purchased for $17.00. If you are writing a check, please make it out to MES.
2. ILEARN testing begins for grades 3rd-5th next week. Teachers will be communicating the schedule with you on days your child's grade level is testing. Our hope is to have good attendance during testing in order to avoid make-up sessions.
3. 1st and 4th grade students will have hearing screenings on Tuesday.

Happy Friday! A few announcements as we head into the weekend:
1. IT'S FINALLY HERE....the anticipation of the Solar Eclipse! Shelby Eastern Schools will be operating under an eLearning Day this Monday, April 8th. Students will be coming home with Chromebooks today. Teachers will be posting assignments and sharing their office hours (and other information) for this day. Thank you to the PTA for putting together Solar Eclipse bags for all students!
2. Next week will be our annual SCUFFY (Shelby County United Fund for You) drive. We will be having a competition among students to see which grade level can raise the most money. The winning grade level will receive a McDonald's lunch at a later date!

1. There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow Friday, March 29th. Students will return on Monday, April 1st.
2. K-5 music program is this coming Wednesday, April 3rd at 7:00pm in the high school main gym.
3. Next Thursday, April 4th is National School Librarian Day. We want to give a shoutout to our very own, Mrs. Waltz! In honor of this day, we are encouraging students to dress as their favorite book character on Thursday.
