Good Afternoon, Yellow Jacket Families! A few announcements as we head into the weekend: 1. A reminder that elementary students do not use the microwaves in the cafeteria. We also do not have lunch assistants heat up things for them (unless there is a documented dietary need). 2. Yesterday, we had our first lockdown drill of the year. The students did a great job of listening and following directions! 3. This coming Tuesday, August 27th, we will be holding a PTA meeting to elect new officers. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm in the elementary library. 4. We ask that when parents/guardians are picking up or dropping off in the car rider line to please refrain from being on your cell phone. We want to limit distractions for the safety and well-being of all. Please and thank you! Have a great weekend!

Good Afternoon, MES Families! We have a menu change for tomorrow (Wednesday, August 21st). Instead of mini corn dogs, hot dogs will be served in its place for Lunch A. Lunch B will remain a cheeseburger. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Good evening Morristown parents, Crews from Duke Energy, our maintenance staff, and additional electrical contractors have worked into the evening to try to resolve our electrical issues that started this morning. There is some good news and bad news to share. Duke energy was able to repair the power line from the road to the school earlier this evening. That repair restored power to MHS and all of our systems are back up and running at the Jr. Sr. High School. Junior Senior High School Students will report per usual and bus routes will be running on their regular schedule tomorrow morning. The unfortunate news is, there is another significant electrical issue within MES that prevents us from restoring power, HVAC systems and much of the lighting within the school. Because this wasn't able to be repaired this evening MES will be on a virtual learning day tomorrow, Friday 8/16. Devices were sent home with 1st through 5th graders and teachers will communicate lessons/activites before 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Again, we do understand the inconvenience this causes our families and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the electrical issues. Summary: MES will be on virtual learning Friday, August 16th. There will be no Boys and Girls Club. Little Yellow Jackets Preschool/Daycare will not be operating.

Good Afternoon, MES Families! In effort to make sure our end of the day procedures go as smoothly and safe as possible, we ask that if a parent needs to make a transportation change for the day to either send in a note with their child to give to their teacher or call the elementary office BEFORE 2:45pm (2:15pm on Wednesday). If we do not have a note indicating a change in their transportation for the day, they will go home as planned. Thank you!

Good Morning, MES Families! It has been a wonderful first week of school! The kids have adjusted well and are learning about rules and procedures for this school year. As we head into the weekend, a few announcements: 1. PICTURE DAY is this coming Wednesday, August 14th! Orders can be made online at inter-state.com/order. Use the code: 86693QT 2. Parents should have received an invite this past week for Rooms which is a communication tool we are using district-wide. If you need assistance, please reach out to Lezlie Stocklin (lstocklin@ses.k12.in.us). 3. Several papers will be coming home in Friday Folders today. One of the most important is a red sheet regarding plans for Emergency Dismissal. Please fill out and return back to school ASAP. 4. Lastly, students will be able to purchase Smart Snack compliant ice cream and frozen treats on Tuesdays and Fridays during lunch. Students must have a positive lunch balance or may bring in $1.75 to make a purchase. If you have any questions, please direct those to our Food Service Director, Allison Kunz (akunz@ses.k12.in.us). Good Morning, MES Families! We are off to a great start this morning at MES! The kids are situated and things are rolling smoothly! A couple of announcements to share: 1. On the first day, we love seeing parents bring our littlest Yellow Jackets in the building. However, for K-5 students, starting tomorrow, kids will not be permitted into the building until 8:00am. Also, we kindly ask that parents do not accompany them inside the building. 2. For those who are car riders, a reminder that for morning drop off and afternoon pickup, you line up along Locust Street. Please go down Patterson Street (road between the HS and VP) and follow that around the back of the campus. Cars will be ushered in once buses have departed. For the afternoon pickup, same procedure, except we will also need to see your child's assigned number to make sure we match students up with the proper car. 3. We also ask that PARENTS REMAIN IN THEIR VEHICLE and pull all the way forward. In addition to this, we ask that cars do not exit the line until the vehicle in front of you does. Please and thank you! Back to School Night will be on Monday, August 5th from 6:00-7:00pm. There will be snow cones for purchase, free hot dogs, and a campfire/storytelling area. Parents are able to complete registration from home, however, if you need assistance, please feel free to come to the HIGH SCHOOL from 1-6pm. Good Morning, MES Families! A couple of announcements as we head into the weekend: 1. FIELD DAY is scheduled for this Monday! We ask the each grade level wear the following colors: Kindergarten (orange), 1st Grade (purple), 2nd Grade (Teal), 3rd Grade (Red), 4th Grade (Yellow), 5th Grade (Black). A special thank you to Mrs. Mallory for planning this event each year! 2. The Student Council will be selling popsicles to grades K-5 on Tuesday and Wednesday next week for .50 each (limit 2 each day) during recess. Please send money with your child if you would like them to participate. Have a great weekend!

A reminder that tonight is our STEAM Fair, Book Fair, and Carnival here at the elementary! Door 1 will open at 6:00pm! The fun lasts until 8:00pm. We hope to see you tonight!

Good Morning! A few announcements as we head into the weekend: 1. Starting on Monday, the car rider line moves BACK to MES. Students will no longer be dropped off or picked up on the high school side. Cars will be able to drive around as usual and park along Locust Street. Thank you for your patience the last couple of weeks. 2. Next week is the BOGO Book Fair. We will also be having a STEM Fair and Carnival on Wednesday evening (with the book fair open) from 6-8pm here at the elementary. 3. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to our teachers this past week to help make Teacher Appreciation Week special. A big thank you to our PTA for spoiling our teachers with many surprises!! 4. Lastly, Happy Mothers' Day to all of our moms out there. We hope you find some time to rest and relax and be pampered as you deserve!! Have a great weekend!
