Congratulations to our students of the Month for August! Grace Doty (nominated by Ms. DeVries): I would like to nominate Grace Doty in eighth grade for student of the month. She has a positive attitude every time I see her in class and in the hallway, and has been such a big help in setting a good example for the seventh graders in the junior high choir class. She has shown a lot of maturity and growth from last year and has really stepped up as a team player this year. I know I can always count on her to be doing the right thing and lending a helping hand. Jaxon Fordice (nominated by Mrs. Kuhn): He works hard. Stays on top of his work and asks thoughtful, appropriate questions. He is kind to everyone and extremely conscientious about his work and attitude. Ruston Kleine (nominated by Mr. Hilderbrand): Ruston is always prepared and in a good mood and ready to learn. His attitude and curiosity make him a joy to have in class. He is ALWAYS kind to his classmates and always does the right thing. Brooke Kuhn (nominated by Mr. Hilderbrand): She is always polite, respectful and ready to learn. She asks questions when she needs to and cares about her learning.

MHS will be back in the building while MES will be doing an e-learning day. We are re-posting this notification to make sure as many people see it as possible: Good evening Morristown parents, Crews from Duke Energy, our maintenance staff, and additional electrical contractors have worked into the evening to try to resolve our electrical issues that started this morning. There is some good news and bad news to share. Duke energy was able to repair the power line from the road to the school earlier this evening. That repair restored power to MHS and all of our systems are back up and running at the Jr. Sr. High School. Junior Senior High School Students will report per usual and bus routes will be running on their regular schedule tomorrow morning. The unfortunate news is, there is another significant electrical issue within MES that prevents us from restoring power, HVAC systems and much of the lighting within the school. Because this wasn't able to be repaired this evening MES will be on a virtual learning day tomorrow, Friday 8/16. Devices were sent home with 1st through 5th graders and teachers will communicate lessons/activites before 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Again, we do understand the inconvenience this causes our families and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the electrical issues. Summary: MES will be on virtual learning Friday, August 16th. There will be no Boys and Girls Club. Little Yellow Jackets Preschool/Daycare will not be operating.

Today's Senior Walk will be at the end of the school day. They will begin in the elementary at 2:50 and make their way trhough the elementary, past the bus line, through the jr. high, and then into the high school. Parents who want to watch and cheer on the class of 2024 should come to door 1 of the high school. Please do not arrive earlier than 2:40 because we will have finals going on up until then. We want to give students their best chance to do well on those finals by providing a distraction free environment during that time.
