Welcome to Shelby Eastern Schools

Welcome to Shelby Eastern Schools!

Located in the eastern-most portion of Shelby County, our district stretches from the northern edge of the county all the way down to the southern edge of the county, and it encompasses the towns of Morristown and Waldron.

Each of our campuses (Morristown and Waldron) offer programming from Pre-K through 12th grade.  We offer a full range of services for students with all types of individualized learning needs. Our teachers work hard to provide students with the most up to date teaching practices and are constantly looking for new ways to engage students in the learning process.  Our blended learning environment provides students with the opportunity to learn to utilize the latest technology, while at the same time developing collaborative relationships with their peers and our faculty. Both of our high schools offer a wide variety of advanced coursework and dual credit learning opportunities.  Our partnership with Blue River Career Programs affords our students the opportunity to explore a career in more than a dozen skilled trades and vocational areas.

We are small schools doing big things, and we are thrilled you allow us to work with your families to help educate them.

Regards,

Dr. Todd Hitchcock

About Shelby Eastern Schools

Shelby Eastern Schools serves the communities of Morristown and Waldron in the eastern part of Shelby County. The school corporation is located approximately 35 miles southeast of Indianapolis, Indiana. The corporation schools consist of Morristown Elementary School, Waldron Elementary School, Morristown Junior-Senior High School, and Waldron Junior-Senior High School.

Morristown Elementary School and Waldron Elementary School enroll age 3 through grade 5 students. Major instruction includes language arts, reading, mathematics, science, health, and social studies. Each elementary school is staffed with music, art, and physical education teachers; a media specialist; and a school counselor. Computers assist teachers and students as a learning tool. Each elementary school also includes a science laboratory.

Morristown Junior-Senior High School and Waldron Junior-Senior High School enroll students in grades 6 through 12. Each school provides a school-within-a-school for grades 6 through 8. Each high school requires the Core 40 diploma for graduation. Students earn high honors in academics, athletics, and other extra-curricular activities. Blue River Careers Program and Walker Career Center provide vocational training for high school students interested in training for a specific occupation.

A 2000 school construction project added instructional space that allows for flexibility and student population growth well into the future. All buildings are wired with a fiber optics connection which allows for a large range of current and future opportunities such as video conferencing and advanced telecommunications.
