| Waldron
Elementary serves over 310 students in grades preK-5. The school
is located in the rural southeastern quadrant of Shelby County
at the edge of the town of Waldron. WES was renovated in 2001,
and the renovations have provided staff and students with an
impressive science lab, computer lab, media center, and up-to-date
classrooms.
Gifted and talented,
Title 1, K-Club, preschool, and special education programs are
available to provide services for qualifying students. The school
is also staffed with music, art, and physical education teachers,
a media specialist, nurse, and school counselor.
There are many extra-curricular
activities that take place at WES to promote the importance
of academics as well as school spirit. Those activities are
Student Council, Spell Bowl, Math Bowl, basketball and cheerleading.
Parental support
is evident and greatly appreciated. Parents provide support
in many ways through the PTO program. PTO helps by volunteering
in classrooms and also funds field trips, classroom supplies,
the Accelerated Reader program, and playground equipment. WES
is a place where parents and teachers work together to provide
the best educational environment for students to achieve their
fullest potential.
With a 20:1 student
to teacher ratio, teachers are able to provide appropriate learning
opportunities in a safe and serene environment. Teachers have
aligned the curriculum to meet the Indiana Academic Standards.
Waldron Elementary is a fully accredited school which continues
to make AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) along with the ranking
of being an "exemplary" school as defined by the Indiana
Department of Education.
